Accidental Colour Combinations

This series of gouache is really about my love of colour and form and how colours interact with each other in unexpected ways. I love painting with gouache on canvas board—it suits my process perfectly.

I play with shape and colour in the hope that the results invite people to look closer and linger a little longer. Each painting is its own little story, exploring a different combination, yet together they all connect. The forms emerge from my brushstrokes, which I then exaggerate and often accentuate with a contrasting colour. Underlying colours that resurface when reactivated help create depth and subtle shifts in hues and tones.
