Fractures
'Fractures' series draws on the experience of living in New Zealand, a country with more than 600 active fault lines.
Built intuitively using gouache and oil pencil a square-like form at the centre expands outward, intersected by fault-like lines that grew from accidental brushstrokes. These fractures divide and connect the surface, creating patterns, boundaries, and layered spaces. The work sits with the tension between stability and disruption — echoing the unseen forces that shape the land beneath us.
